The SFC Group March 2018 Update

As we continue to reorganize ourselves to stay relevant in this flooded content-creation market, we are making our final reorganization decisions that we hope would turn out for the better. As we near the end of the Winter season, and approach Spring, we are announcing some more massive changes to our organization that will not only benefit us, but also our fans and followers of ours, thus making it a win-win situation.

So, here's what we've got to offer for March...

1. The SFC Site 4 Public Beta!

Just less than 5 months after the release of The SFC Site 3, we are already working on a NEW version of our website, version 4, set for a final release later in Spring 2018. However, like we did with the previous website updates, we will be issuing a public "work-in-progress" build of what we're working on for The SFC Site 4, on March 3rd.

There will be some new changes with this site update, however the two biggest changes are a more consistent look, and since we are focusing on promoting our Patreon (see second announcement below), there will be a Patreon link on the bottom of EVERY page of our website, and we've enhanced the donate page with two different options to help support our content: Patreon (recommended) or just PayPal.

And of course, there's other improvements and features in this major site update, but I'll let the changelog speak for itself:

The SFC Site 4.0 Public Beta Changelog:
- New SFC Group logo banner (matches the current on-screen logo for consistency)
- New Social and Navigation Bar color scheme
- Added Twitch to the Social Bar
- Removed Discord and SoundCloud from the Social Bar
- Moved two buttons to the top of the Homepage
- Re-added Games section to the Downloads page
- Enhanced SFC Live page
- SFC Live Chatroom Rules and Trivia split into two separate pages
- Removed SFC Live Gmod Server details
- Donate page now has Patreon link, along with PayPal link
- Old Donate page is now a PayPal Donate page
- Split the About Us page into two separate pages: Our History and Our Members
- Improved Video Requests page

Now, onto something more recent...

2. SFC on Patreon!

If you haven't watched the 1000 subscribers video yet, The SFC Group is heading to Patreon territory! However, we only teased a couple things about it, and now we have more details that we'd like to share with you...

So, here are some updates regarding our upcoming Patreon page:

- Our Patreon page will be launching on March 3rd, 2018, alongside The SFC Site 4 Public Beta.

- Our primary tier, the Early Access tier, not only shows your support towards us, but you also gain early access to our major YouTube releases, and exclusive behind-the-scenes looks and updates on our content, video or not. The primary tier is only $1 or more per month, very affordable and recommended to our fans who want to support us through Patreon for the first time!

- Our secondary tier, the Archives Tier, contains everything from the Early Access tier, but you gain access to more, such as our now-taken down YouTube videos, and even pre-2015 SFC videos that haven't seen the light of day in years! You'll also gain access to our archived downloadable content, as well as extra bonuses NOT available in the primary tier! This secondary tier will only cost you $5 or more per month.

When our Patreon page launches on March 3rd, do expect it to be promoted at the beginning of many of our videos and livestreams for a while, especially on social media and our websites; if you like what we have to offer and want to see us keep going with producing quality content, consider supporting us on Patreon as soon as possible NEXT WEEK, and we'll look forward to the launch!

If you're curious, you can check out our Patreon page now, however there won't be much on there until we actually launch it:

Now, let's move onto the live stuff...

3. SFC Live Format Changes!

So you might be wondering why throughout the rest of February, SFC Live went on hiatus. Unfortunately, the host, Sage, had developed strep throat at the time, which resulted in him not being able to speak properly. Thus, we had to cancel all of our SFC Live (and SFC on Twitch) shows for the rest of February.

However, it probably was a wise decision, as next week (March 3rd), we are doing ANOTHER complete overhaul of the current SFC Live format, to make the experience overall better for our viewers, new or not!

So, here's what to expect for the new SFC Live format changes next week:

- By Popular Demand, Quiplash (or, will be played on EVERY SFC Live from thereon out! Of course, we'll still do other multiplayer games like Garry's Mod, Rocket League, and Marble Blast PlatinumQuest, but do expect Quiplash/ to be played on every new SFC Live show!

- SFC Live Trivia will return with Game 3 on our 50th episode, which will introduce a new "True or False" question type, slight gameplay improvements, and will be the last SFC Live Trivia Game to have the $20 Steam Gift Code giveaway to the winner!

Our Discord server is getting another upgrade to make it more live-centric. As part of the new SFC Live format changes, we are merging both the Member and Viewer quick links channels into one single channel, for simplicity, and we've added a new #roleplay channel for those who want to create new stories and use their imaginations! (Just keep them clean though).

Speaking of roleplaying, we've had a Discord server dedicated to Technology Showdown, our animated show, which was meant for fans of the show, and also had roleplaying channels included. Unfortunately, due to our lack of interest in running the server, and due to a decline in viewership, the Technology Showdown Fan Club server will be closing its doors permanently on March 3rd, 2018.

If you're curious about what this server has to offer, the server invite link is available on the Technology Showdown page of our website (you may have to scroll all the way down to get the link to it), however once the new SFC Site update rolls out next week, the server will be no more.

Guest Callers! Since our special livestreams with guest caller appearances, our fans have been asking for more, and we're giving it to them with the new format changes! Every other week, there will be a non-SFC Group Member on a private Discord call, who will be hanging out with us, alongside our co-hosts and such during our normal live shows! Of course, we're not going to invite EVERY single guest on our show; we usually pick the ones whom the host knows well, either who are very passionate about what we do, or have been on the internet for quite some time.

Gaming Specials are being moved over to SFC on Twitch. People like us playing other games (American Truck Simulator, Portal 2, etc.) besides the ones we feature on SFC Live, but with our focus being on the new Twitch channel for gaming-centric livestreams, we've decided to ditch the gaming specials on SFC Live for good, and move them to our Twitch channel instead! (See the SFC on Twitch announcement below for more details.)

Finally, as we shift the gaming gears to our Twitch channel for 100% gaming-oriented livestreams, SFC Live will be slightly less gaming-oriented, despite multiplayer games being played on our live show. The main goal for this live show after the format changes is to discuss about tech, gaming, and other topics besides just "gaming" around (if you know what I mean), but we still respect the fans for giving their thoughts on what they want for the future of our live shows. If you have any suggestions for what *NEW* multiplayer games we should add to SFC Live, please let us know on social media or in the comments of this blog post (didn't I mention that you can comment on our blog posts as well?)

Now onto some updates regarding our Twitch channel...

4. SFC on Twitch Update!

You may have heard about our foray into streaming on Twitch back in January, during our reorganization process, however as you may have heard in the previous announcement, we will be focusing more of our efforts on our Twitch channel for 100% gaming-oriented streams!

We have decided on a final schedule and formats for SFC on Twitch, however other suggestions are welcome: SFC on Twitch will air only on Mondays at 7PM EST/6PM CST/12AM GMT. Our Twitch shows will have two different live show formats:

- Simulation Mondays: Sometimes on Mondays, we'll stream Dovetail Games' Train Simulator, Train Sim World, Euro Fishing, and SCS Software's American Truck Simulator.

- Gaming Specials: Sometimes, we play games that are non-simulation games, such as Portal 2, Lemmings, Quiplash, and much more.

Finally, let's wrap this up with a quick update regarding our YouTube channel...

5. YouTube Channel Update

To conclude this update post, we have a couple of quick updates regarding our YouTube channel.

When we resume our normal content offering in March, we'll be looking at High Iron Simulations' Donner Pass Scenario Pack for Train Simulator as part of our SFC Reviews series, which will be our first video to be released early to our Patreon supporters, a couple of days before public release (to those who bought the Early Access or Archives reward tiers). Afterwards, it'll be followed up with a long-awaited Software Room review on Microsoft Windows 2, which is currently in production as of the writing of this update post!

Other videos, which includes the next Misadventures of Apple & Tux, and Shoppers Showcase episode, are also in the works. As always, stay tuned!

We really want to make 2018 the best year yet for us, and with this long reorganization process, we really think you'll like what we'll have to offer in the coming months! As always, be sure to follow us on social media for further updates!

Anyways, that's all from me for now, and as always, peace. ;)
